Formed in 2016, Indian thrash metal band DREADHAMMER are back with the first taste of their upcoming debut album.
“The band is the brainchild of frontman Rishav Bhattacharya which was formed with the sole purpose of elevating the local community in terms of quality metal music and also pushing the boundaries of thrash metal as a genre and contributing to the movement to revive it. We wanna be the flag bearers of new wave thrash metal from India and represent our country and community at a global level,” states the band. “We draw influence from a variety of classic and modern bands like Overkill, Kreator, Toxic Holocaust, Judas Priest, Sepultura, Warbringer, and Megadeth to name a few. Our sound can be roughly summed up as a unique and original blend of thrash metal with its traditional tenacity and aggression combined with a modern approach to structure, production, and execution sprinkled with Heavy Metal musical sensibilities and just the right amount of progressiveness to keep the listener engaged.”
On the new track ‘Atomic Pulse’, “The song deals with the topic of selective extinction or culling to differentiate the weak from the strong to ensure supreme evolution. It’s also a direct reference to the way we feel when put on a thrash metal record and feel the Atomic Pulse take over and rush through our veins. This is both a commentary on selective human evolution and a tribute to mean and aggressive thrash metal. Just the kind we like.”
The debut album ‘Sovereign’ will be out this June with tours around the country to support the release.
