Butuan City is a city located in the Northern part of Mindanao, Philippines. Though it is not usually in the maps of both hardcore and metal underground scenes, but its own underground scene has been existing and surviving for decades through small DIY shows. Coming from the new breed of the city’s own metal scene, GASTROINTESTINAL DISGORGEMENT was hatched, whose composition consists of half college students and half highschoolers; all hardcore kids who play metal.

Released under Butuan City’s only DIY label Frontal Assault Records, Terraforming Through Tissue is a 6-track EP showcasing the four kids’ own brand of slam death metal, which is mostly influenced by old school slam like Devourment, Abominable Putridity, Suffocation among others.

For the rest of the world, Butuan City is a promising and exotic source of underground music, for it is a scene that enthusiasts haven’t heard much of. More releases to come from metal, punk, and hardcore acts and everything in between.
