Yo…was fully not prepared for this rager of a track that harks back to the early 90’s era when rap was being melded into more industrial sounding metal with a huge nod to the entire rap/hip-hop game. Check out Pratika outta India as she lays it bare on this new track.
Check out the words right outta her mouth:
“The song I’m going to release in a couple of weeks was written a really long time ago. With great difficulty, with a lot of mental roadblocks and more, I’ve managed to put things together to finally release it. It makes more sense in the context of where we’re at today in India. Misuse of power, black market, struggling to make profit for ourselves while not bothering about the world because of our own hustle. There’s a duality in all of this, and the hustle is real. It often confuses me, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. You are unfortunately part of a system you cannot avoid. You succumb, but you are raging inside. Do you stand up and fight? Do you help people around you? You know best. This song was introspection for me.
It talks about the duality of our existence as individuals who find comfort in our selfish ways, but still question the forces that govern us. In an ever-changing, developing world, our minds still haven’t managed to strike a balance between what we stand for morally, and how we let ourselves be controlled by forces that exist in our socio-political environment. We are continuously fighting with ourselves, and betrayal for our own selfish needs is normalized but seldom spoken about.
Being part of a system we cannot evade makes us feel safe, without having to struggle or lookout for the world around us. This ‘bubble’ keeps us secure and free of worry, but inside we are raging. Finding solace in the life we live is often chosen, over trying to be good human beings or seeking justice for how ‘control’ influences our patterns. We do it all just for survival, and it’s difficult for us to live free of this because it’s too late.”
Very cool to see some fellow Asian extreme musicheads who live out here in the west (United Kingdom to be precise) also continuing to actually play music instead of...
