Singapore Hardcore Year In Review – DIVIDED WE FALL’s TOP 10 LIST

In 2025 UNITE ASIA will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary of running this website having posted something pretty much every single day within this 10 year span. By far one of our favorite posts is when we get submissions like this that provide ALL of us with a beautiful update of any specific scene’s current activities. Huge thank to the fellas behind Singapore’s DIVDED WE FALL for submitting this “year in review” for the Singaporean hardcore scene! What a year they’ve had!

2024 is coming to a close and what a year it has been!

A lot of amazing shows, records and moments we’re so privileged to have had in the Lion City, despite all the speed bumps and mosh discourse (of course) there’s plenty to smile about over this past year.

Would’ve loved to write more but our brains barely have any capacity to function on the daily, so here’s a “Top 10” list of eventful moments in LCHC this year (not in any particular order):

LCHC @ Concrete Jungle Fest
The first ever SEA hardcore fest put together by the team of BLACKLISTED PRODUCTIONS, HOLDING ON RECORDS, LOUDLY PREFER and SLAMMAN BOOKING. A historic moment in South East Asia Hardcore! TLDR of that weekend: crowd basically going crazy for every band on the line up, Jorge from Merauder moshing for 2 days back to back before a slight injury put him on the sidelines for the last day, the Whispers mosh discourse, Kickback, Anthonie moshing for the Downpresser cover, 2 surprise sets, Xibalba closing out the weekend with a bang, Taco Bell and not forgetting the Beef Noodle place near the venue.

Citizen Live in Singapore Day 2
Day 2 was the night to be at; Destiny and Losing End going on right before Citizen, something you rarely see here in Singapore. A great way to introduce a newer crowd to hardcore and get more people curious. Seems to have paid off well with all the new faces we’ve seen at shows of late.

Despize & Demonstration of Power Live in Singapore
Scotland’s finest came through on a Sunday and turned that room into a warzone. Has only ever happened one other time when Depressed (TH) came through. Only moshers in the room, everyone for themselves type shit. Love it.

Life’s Question & Raw Brigade Live in Singapore
Small Sunday show but it was still fun! Life’s Question dropped one of our favourite EPs of the year, so glad we got to catch them live. Raw Brigade’s energy is unmatched, they were still dancing after the show when the crew was tearing down the stage. A good way to end the week imo.

Whispers & Rexrez Live In Singapore
Always a treat when the homies come through! It was also the EP release show for Flames of Conviction brought to you by yours truly 🙂 A super stacked line up with Renegade, F.O.C and xdetesterx keeping the crowd moshing the whole night ending with Whispers doing the Cold as Life cover. Epic.

Destiny “To See Another Day” Release Show
If you weren’t at this show, do you even love hardcore? This show should be memorialised in a museum. A sold out show for one of the best EPs this year and seeing a crowd full of locals singing along to every song warms our cold dead hearts every time. Worked with the boys to release a release show variant of the CD, it should be sold out so if you missed out, too bad for you. This show might be a contender for top 3 shows of the decade.

Mystique “Face Your Fate” Release Show feat. Existence
Another release we got the pleasure to be a part of! Putting on only bands from this past year in the line up was a conscious effort by the band to put on for the young ones. If you came late, you suck because you missed the rest of the line up popping off and also a surprise Destiny set.

Existence was truly a treat, been wanting to catch them live for the longest time, they even threw in a Madball and Crown of Thornz cover. Mystique’s set popped off as well, getting everyone bouncing along to the grooves.

Destiny Asia Tour
After the release of their critically acclaimed EP, the boys in Destiny announced an Asian tour presented by Gidwreckunit. Couldn’t be any prouder to see local hardcore bands go on tour, every show looked insane, they deserve every bit of it.

South of Reaper Tour feat Renegade, Wreckonize, Mystique & Losing End
A bit of bias but what the hell ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hot off their Concrete Jungle Festival sets, the bands take their antics to the Indonesian Archipelago alongside killer bands like Defy and Bleach.

Quick shoutout to Firstblood Productions and Hard 2 Kill Fest!

Here + Now Fest 2024
No better way to end the year with a FREE hardcore fest. A collaborative effort by Blacklisted Productions, Firstblood Productions, Gidwreckunit and Dogswain. A celebration of our community featuring the new wave of hardcore bands and also booths by hardcore owned businesses. TLDR of the fest: Members of Renegade emceeing the night was a great decision, Dying Creed set looking like the Japanese Hardcore Mosh Style compilation videos, Angulimala getting the whole crowd skanking, CURB DISENGAGE COVER, Mystique + friends set and the return of xdetesterx + B.L.U.E. set to end the night right. Major shoutout to AltBPM for keeping the vibes going throughout the night!

There’s probably a lot that got left out but these are the moments off the top of our heads.

2024 definitely gave us plenty to smile about. Word on the street is that 2025 is already shaping up to be just as, if not EVEN MORE, insane than this year with Firstblood announcing the Your Demise tour and Gidwreckunit with the Splitknuckle tour. Here’s hoping 2025 will be a good one.
