Philippine Shoegaze bands Ozzga and Polar Lows join forces to release a 4-track EP titled ” Split”. The bands were kind enough to even send a track-by-track guide! Read it below:
[Feel You – OZZGA]
Feel You is Ozzga’s first fully collaborative effort and new attempt in shifting to a faster-paced and louder dynamic while incorporating different styles that go beyond our usual comfort zones. We wanted to dive into the complications of fleeting love and the longing for physical touch and intimacy. Feel You expresses this deep emotion through the contrast between harsh, aggressive guitars and soft, yearning vocals. Beginning just where the song ends, the coda, with its experimental and swooning drone of guitars and reverbed vocals, represents the space between our faltering dreams and the inevitable crash of reality.
[Should – OZZGA]
Ozzga decided to take a heavier but slower approach with Should compared to our previous releases. While drawing inspiration from Justin K. Broadrick’s experimental metal project “Jesu” and combining that with our usual blend of overwhelming amounts of fuzz and reverb, “Should” feels like a steep descent into a void of slowcore and doom while waiting for the uncertain arrival of the person behind our haunting dreams.
[Paper Street – POLAR LOWS]
Paper Street is based on Tyler Durden’s house address on Fight Club (Movie). This song is based on a personal experience similar to the movie; imagining to be somebody and somewhere else and ending up in a place that is a resemblance of that “somewhere else”.
[Ellipsis – POLAR LOWS]
Ellipsis is about surrendering. A total complete surrender to the routine and old love. Where infidelity is normalized, this song stands to believe in a monogamous and loyal love.
