‘Punk Rock Blasphemy’ is the second full-length album by Chinese post-punk band RIOT IN SCHOOL. This album merges the energy and experimentation of Post-Hardcore with the creativity and melody of Alternative Rock, while also incorporating elements of Hip-hop, Trip-hop, and bedroom electronica, crafting a unique musical language that belongs solely to Riot In School.
Over the course of two and a half years, amidst intense internal and external conflicts and extreme artistic anxiety, Riot In School painstakingly composed this album, drop by drop, like water wearing through stone. The music on this album is rich with intricate designs and details, and the entire work is divided into three distinct sections(t1-t3; t4-t7; t8-t11). Each part is infused with all the knowledge and inspiration the band has accumulated over time, and every song contains at least one segment that breaks free from conventional structures. Enhanced by the mixing of Will Yip, the overall sound is exceptionally full and immersive, far surpassing anything Riot In School has released before.
The album cover features a left-behind child from a rural town in Sichuan. Along with the three other children appearing in the album’s insert, the band organized a charity tour to raise funds for their education.
