PHOTOBOOK: ‘The Fire Still Left In Us’ Photobook About The Japanese/Indonesian HXC Scene

Hanafi Hastoworo, also known as HIBERNATION PICTURES, is an Osaka based photographer known for his raw and immersive documentation of the hardcore scene. He has just released his debut photobook, ‘THE FIRE STILL LEFT IN US‘. The photobook is set to launch with an exhibition and a release party in Semarang, Indonesia. This book captures the raw, unfiltered energy of hardcore shows across Indonesia and Japan over the past decade.

“The Fire Still Left in Us” showcases the tight-knit, defiant spirit of hardcore communities, emphasizing the shared sense of authenticity and commitment that transcends borders. Through a collection of black-and-white photographs, Hanafi immortalizes the sweat, passion, and camaraderie found in every mosh pit and stage dive.

“Hardcore scene in Asia is more than just music—it’s a lifestyle and a form of expression,” says Hanafi “I wanted to create a visual tribute to the people and moments that keep this scene alive.”

  • A Decade of Moments: Featuring photographs taken from 2011 onwards, highlighting iconic moments in the Asian hardcore scene.
  • Diverse Locations: A visual journey through Indonesia and Japan, showcasing the unique yet universal nature of the hardcore culture.
  • Exclusive Book Launch Event: The official launch will be accompanied by a photo exhibition and a hardcore festival in Semarang, Indonesia.
