Philippines Hardcore Act EXIT WOUND Give Us a Track by Track On New EP

Check out Filipino hardcore band EXIT WOUND who’ve just dropped their debut EP entitled ‘Steel Downpour’ released on Singapore’s FIRSTBLOOD PRODUCTIONS.

“‘Steel Downpour’ is our second release, following the demo we put out last year. We kept most of what we thought was dope about it and cranked it up. Sonically, we pulled a lot from the Northern Unrest bands specially DOP & Despize. We also pulled from bands like Queensway and Gridiron who has a significant amount of Hiphop influences in their style of Hardcore. Definitely a style that everybody in the band resonates with so naturally it came out when writing the record. Bands like Hatebreed & CDC as well are solid inspirations for the record.

The EP is released under Firstblood Productions (SG). Something that we’re so stoked about. We met Wenjie and Zinho when they had us play Hard2kill Fest in Indonesia last year. Eventually we spoke about the possibility of them putting out our next record and it’s history from there.

Track 1 and also the title track is a thematic intro to the entire body of work featuring an excerpt of Carl Sagan talking about the devastating effects of a possible nuclear holocaust.

Track 2 “Volition”, the main idea behind the song is the perseverance to impose your will on a world that is designed to suppress every ounce of your individuality. To not wallow in fear but instead to strategize ways to counter attack.

Track 3 “Seek & Destroy” features the homie Irish Alcano from the band STAB (Cebu). Having women power represented in the EP is definitely something we wanted to do since the start. Lyrically, it goes out to all the people getting into Hardcore but the ignoring the “core” aspect. Leaving but a watered down idea of the lifestyle.

Track 4 “Brigad3 Blood” is a proposed anthem for our crew/DIY record label Brigad3. This track features Harun of No Remorse. One of the pioneers of Brigad3 Style.

Track 5 “Trickster” is the idea of someone’s dread knowing you can see right through the deception they’re trying to set up. The song was inspired by that one Godfather scene where Michael reveals to his brother Fredo he knew he was the traitor all along.
