Phenomenal Indonesian Melodic Hardcore Band MODERN GUNS Return With New EP

Dem boys in melodic hardcore band MODERN GUNS outta Indonesia are back with a brand new EP ‘Lost in Absence’.

After releasing the EPs Pure Love From The Black Heart (2014, Golden Years Records), The Place Where I Left You (2016, Armstretch Records), and We Are Strangers After All (2019, Modern Guns Collective), we are finally back in 2025 with our brand-new EP entitled LOST IN ABSENCE. This EP will also be released under the banner of Modern Guns Collective.

Here’s a track by track breakdown of the songs:

Pieces Of You Surrounding me
The opening track is an improvised intro created in the studio last August.

The Room We Lost (feat. Yoel)
This song tells an emotional journey of loss, fading trust, and the struggle of saying goodbye. At the end of the track, our close friend Yoel (Coldskin) delivers brutal guest vocals that complete the song’s atmosphere. This track also marks our very first official music video. After years of being a band, we are finally releasing a visual piece alongside this record. The video was produced by Sunray Creative lab as the production house, with the involvement of our guitarist Chads, Farhan as well as our official photographer and videographer, who are also part of the production team.

I Hope This Letter Finds You
The song portrays unspoken longing, unhealed wounds, and silence that continues to haunt. It’s not about reopening old scars, but about lighting a small candle in the empty room left behind.

Drift Away
The meaning of this song lies in letting go, acceptance, and finding the strength to move forward in order to stay sane. Unlike the other tracks, “Drift Away” explores a different side of us. Usually, we play fast-paced, emotional hardcore, but here we experiment with Shoegaze, and alternative influences—while still keeping our signature sound.

Tears Will Be Shed Forever
This track marks the first time Gaga performs clean vocals after 2 albums, 1 EP, and several singles. Known for his spoken words and screams, he now delivers clean vocals in the closing section of the song. “Tears Will Be Shed Forever” is an honest reflection on past mistakes and the yearning for change.

Tidal Waves
The song captures a heartfelt reflection on love, longing, and the complexity of emotions.
