Nepal’s Biggest Metal Festival Announce New Addition – Grindcore Madmen – Chepang

Though we posted about this earlier today…a few hours later, the Silence Festival crew have added yet another stellar act to the lineup – US/Nepal grindcore madmen Chepang!

Our friends at Nepal’s annual metal event of all events – the mighty Silence Festival – have gone above and beyond the call of duty with this year’s lineup. Everything from having thrash legends Testament headline, to some of the biggest metal bands from all over Asia who are in this stacked lineup, to all the production that is going into making this the biggest Silence Fest ever, they’re putting it all on the line.

Check out this brilliant documentary by Phil Wallis and Alexander Milas about the Nepalese metal scene led by the voices of international juggernaut metal act Underside:

We at UniteAsia.org cannot stress enough how important it is that if you are in Nepal next weekend, that you make it out to this event and support the organizers. Go buy a ticket, buy two tickets, buy as many as possible and support…don’t even dare ask for a free ticket or getting on any sort of guest list.

Metal Hammer did an awesome write up on the history/origin of this festival with this poignant opening sentence:

“Overcoming natural disasters and corrupt cops, Silence festival aims to put Nepal’s metal scene on the map and become a destination for international bands.”
