Myanmar’s latest addition to its punk rock community is 5-piece band DEATH BY SYSTEMS. The band has just released their debut self-titled EP which currently is only listenable via the youtube link below.
The band were kind enough to send us a track by track breakdown of the songs:
PIGS
“The first song is called”ဝက်ကြီးများအကြောင်း”which is “PIGS” in English. Pigs is the term we gave for the capitalists. This song is for the workers who are oppressed under capitalism who are not getting paid enough and have to work overtime throughout their entire life. These workers are just staying alive and feel like they’re not even living. All because of capitalism.”
No Rule No God No Masters
“The second song is clearly our way of life. Fuck the system, Fuck the rules.”
Burn
“This was our debut song that we released which still means a lot to us. The song is for the victims of sexual assault regardless of gender. In this song you can hear our pain, sadness and anger.”
Human Hating on Human
“This song is about all the discriminations of the society. Because of unnecessary discrimination many people lose their human rights and the worst is that it can lead to war.”
Stop Wars
“Just to clarify, we don’t mean all the wars (defense wars),we just don’t want the wars which is based on pure hatred where innocent people suffer, and wars that are created by the people who already have all the power. Many people have to die just because of their ego and power. That’s the meaning of the song.”
