ESPRIT D’ AIR release their latest single, ‘Shadow of Time’, on 14 March 2025. Written and produced by vocalist by Kai, the track blends power metal and gothic metal influences, evoking a dark yet cinematic atmosphere. Following the success of their previous single ‘Lost Horizon’ two weeks ago—which was featured in Metal Hammer’s Track of the Week—’Shadow of Time’ continues to build anticipation for their fourth album Aeons, set for release on 24 October 2025.
Lyrically, ‘Shadow of Time’ explores the existential crisis of battling against time itself. The track conveys the internal turmoil of confronting the fleeting nature of existence, where the protagonist wrestles with the passage of time and the search for meaning in an ever-accelerating world. “It’s about the fear of time slipping away and the struggle to break free from its grasp”, Kai explains. “The song reflects the conflict between acceptance and resistance—questioning what it means to exist when every moment is fading.”
Esprit D’Air is the award-winning Japanese electronic rock/metal project spearheaded by Kai, known for their distinctive fusion of heavy guitar riffs, atmospheric synths, and melodic vocals. Operating entirely independently, Esprit D’Air has defied industry norms, handling all aspects of recording, production, and tour management without label or management backing.
The project has garnered widespread recognition from outlets such as Billboard, Loudwire, Kerrang! Radio, and BBC Radio. Their previous albums Constellations, Seasons, and Oceans all saw chart success, while singles like ‘Leviathan’ and ‘Shizuku’ reached the Top 10 of the Official Singles Sales Chart. Their latest work continues to solidify their reputation as a formidable force in modern rock and metal.
With an ever-growing global fanbase and a YouTube Silver Creator Award for surpassing 100,000 subscribers, Esprit D’Air is set to embark on their Seasons & Aeons Tour across Europe in March and April 2025, bringing their electrifying live performances to fans worldwide.
