ARKM is a more experimental type of metal band from Hong Kong that tries to push the boundaries of heavy music and thus is quite challenging to pigeonhole into any one specific genre. There’s a little of everything in their madness – metal, metalcore, nu-metal, electronics, groove. The band has just released a brand new single ‘Phantom Pains’ off their upcoming debut EP. The music is manic as expected. What really grabbed us are the lyrics…holy shit – those are some heartwrenching lyrics about a child watching some horrific tragedy unfold at her house. Things that most certainly exist on this evil planet that we all live on, but not something we have seen in lyrics in a LONG time. Much respect to the lyricist Allison for digging deep to churn out some heavy lyrics on a heavy topic.
Here’s the write-up from the band:
“Phantom Pains shows us how unforgiving and cruel the world can be and how everything society stands for is corrupted. The ones who need the most protection are exploited for the greed of wealthy men who have become bored and want to play God. This song shows us through the eyes of a child how sometimes there appears to be only one way out, and no matter how dark it may seem, they will take it, to take their lives into their own hands and get out of their situation.”
Look out for more info on the full EP soon!
