The dudes in Malaysian beatdown band MONEYBAG have just announced a massive Malaysian tour where every show will only 10RM to get in.
Check out the inspiration:
“The idea behind the ticket price came from our brothers in Singapore – BLACKLISTED PRODUCTIONS and also the band HAYWIRE. Every year, Blacklisted hosts a free festival showcasing Singapore’s hardcore scene, from new bands to established ones. We thought it’d be sick to bring that same kind of energy to Malaysia.”
“At the same time, getting sponsors here isn’t easy, and we’re not in a position to fully fund a free show on our own. So we decided to take a similar approach to what Haywire does by splitting ticket sales with the venues. Our half goes directly to paying the bands, while the venues can use their half to cover their costs.
Keeping tickets cheap is important to us because we want more people to come to shows. Some kids might be curious about hardcore but aren’t ready to drop a lot of money on something they haven’t fully gotten into yet. Younger kids especially don’t always have that kind of cash. If we can make it affordable, why not? Cause in the end we’ve all been in the position of not having enough money to watch the bands we enjoy.”
“At the same time, this tour means a lot to us because it lines up with the release of our new promo, Hate & Vanity. It’s three new tracks, with one featuring our brother Dalton from Three Knee Deep, and it drops on January 2nd before we head out on tour. By keeping the shows affordable, it also gives us a better chance to spread this release and get more people locally to check out what we’re doing. Even though the goal has always been to push ourselves internationally, we never want to forget where we came from. That’s why we always represent Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia wherever we go.”
Hell yeah…go support these maniacs:
