Indian punk band, JAYSDEAD, is a band shaped by movement, emotion, and a deep connection to skateboarding culture. Formed by songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Jay, the project draws from a life lived across continents—experiences that now fuel a sound rooted in ’90s punk energy with a modern, high-impact edge.
Born in the United States to Indian immigrant parents, Jay grew up moving between cities before settling in Mumbai in 2008. That constant sense of motion continues to inform JAYSDEAD’s music, which explores identity, resilience, and emotional release through fast, melodic punk.

With the new single My Hands, JAYSDEAD begins a new release cycle under a distribution deal with GMJ / Warner Music India. The track marks the first of ten songs scheduled for monthly release, signalling an ambitious and consistent rollout strategy.
Songwriting for the band originates from Jay’s personal experiences, often sparked late at night and developed through instinctive melodies, voice-note sketches, and early-morning sessions. The result is music that feels immediate, honest, and emotionally direct.
Beyond recordings, JAYSDEAD is actively contributing to India’s growing underground scene. The band recently headlined Amped Up Fest, a grassroots skate-and-punk festival bringing together live music, skateboarding, artists, and youth culture. The event reflects the band’s broader mission: to help build visibility and infrastructure for punk and skate communities in India, where both remain largely underground.
That cultural momentum has begun to draw international attention. The director of Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, D.C. has recently connected with the band, and early discussions are underway around a potential documentary exploring JAYSDEAD’s journey alongside the rise of punk and skate culture in India.
