Hardcore punk outfit from Bandung, WAFFLE, unleash their debut album Primal Instinct: an 11–track release packed with raw yet precise hardcore/punk energy. The album is available online and in tapes starting November 28, 2025, through Indonesian local label, HUSTED RECORDS, also U.S. release to follow via DIY label, HUMAN FUTURE RECORDS.
Primal Instinct captures the primal human urge to survive—filtered through the narrow, relentless lens of urban life. In society, the complexities of living extend far beyond sustaining oneself; emotional isolation and psychological strain become additional burdens that demand confrontation.
Diving deeper into these sentiments, the album’s narrative reflects the dynamic tensions of city living: individualistic, yet never fully detached from its social nature. Without attempting to represent anyone but themselves, Waffle speaks on ego, isolation, disgust, collapse, and glimpses of optimism—offering a raw, relatable portrayal of the ups and downs faced by urban dwellers.
Musically, the band stays true to its roots, presenting straightforward hardcore/punk without excessive embellishments. Darken riffs, semi-mutant atmospheres serve as the core of Primal Instinct. Rather than remaining static, Waffle injects nuance through shifts in pacing and style—a bit taste of groovy hardcore to powerviolence-styled blasts.
Primal Instinct is released through two labels: Husted Records for domestic distribution and Human Future Records for U.S. markets. Both will issue tape versions, though Human Future Records has yet to announce an exact release date.
