Emotive Punk Band Mascot Release Debut Album [Malaysia]

Mascot is an emotive punk band out of Malaysia whose sound is derived from the somber yet energetic tones of midwest-emo-inspired riffs, honest vocals, and insightful lyrics. The band earlier this year released their debut drop – a 4-track EP ‘Penutup’. Now, Mascot embarks on a new journey with the release of their sophomore album, Permulaan. The 10-track record delivers a punchier, lively, and diverse sound that captures the essence of closure. Mascot is inspired by Tiny Moving Parts, Paramore, ONE OK ROCK, Mom Jeans, and many more emo-based bands.

“Permulaan tells the story of closure, healing, heartbreak, and acceptance in this wild ride of a record that spans various song styles, while still staying true to their brand of midwest emo. From high-energy tracks like Pulih and Soal, to more relaxed tunes like Sayang and Menangis, to the epic album closer, Teruskan. Mascot takes the listener on a sonic journey that is both nostalgic and cathartic.”
