Next week will see Beijing doom band Nekroma release their second EP entitled ‘Asura’ and embark on a tour that will take the band across China, Thailand, and Cambodia in support. The follow up to their debut self-titled EP, ‘Asura’(????) sees the band draw on their diverse musical and cultural backgrounds to create a four song odyssey that draws parallels to classic doom bands such as Cathedral, Witchfinder General, and Candlemass yet transcends being limited to a single genre by combining elements of prog rock, baroque classical, and traditional Chinese folk songs, with lyrics in English, Chinese, German, and Korean.
You can listen to the EP here:
The EP will be available digitally on all the major streaming platforms, as well as a limited run of CDs. In addition there will be a limited edition cassette version of the EP released for International Cassette Store Day (October 12,2019) which will feature artwork by Metal Your Day, along with tracks from Cambodian metal bands affiliated with Yab Moung Records including Vartey Ganiva, Reign in Slumber and Doch Chkae (who recently made headlines after playing at this year’s Wacken Festival in Germany).
