KOSMIK is a Malaysian metallic crossover hardcore band formed in 2023. The band is inspired by the hard, raw sound of the 2000s hardcore and metal scenes, driven by the urge to create something real. Musically, Kosmik draws influence from some of the most aggressive and passionate acts in the global hardcore scene including Keep It Real (Indonesia), Speed (Australia), Whisper (Thailand), Knocked Loose (USA), XWeaponX (USA), Locked Shut (USA), and Foundation (USA). These bands have shaped Kosmik’s approach to sound heavy, unfiltered, and emotionally charged. Each member comes from a different musical background, and together they blend their influences into a powerful and emotional sound pushing boundaries, experimenting with styles, and constantly evolving. Their music is a form of expression, a journey of self-discovery, and a way to stay alive in a world that often feels disconnected. Kosmik continues to grow, creating bold arrangements and unique sonic textures that reflect their identity as a rising force in the underground scene.
Empire of Evil is more than just a debut it’s a statement. Kosmik delivers a brutal fusion of metallic hardcore and crossover thrash, driven by raw emotion, DIY ethos, and regional pride. It’s a soundtrack for resistance, inner turmoil, and survival in a world collapsing under its own weight.
The album opens with VOID, a crushing portrayal of emptiness and psychological collapse. Distorted guitars and relentless rhythms set a bleak, unrelenting tone. Sick Wicked Sick follows as a chaotic outburst of rage and disgust aimed at a corrupt, decaying world — dissonant, furious, and unapologetically hostile.
Kill Em All is pure defiance, a primal anthem against oppression and abuse of power. Its relentless riffs and guttural vocals make it feel like war set to music. In Two Face, the band turns inward, calling out betrayal and hypocrisy with sharp tempo changes and crushing breakdowns — an emotional purge for anyone who’s been stabbed in the back.
Before the Fall shifts to a more atmospheric pace, capturing the eerie calm before collapse a haunting reflection on ignored warnings and self destruction. Roll the Dice pushes Kosmik experimental edge, blending unpredictable transitions and reckless energy to reflect a life lived without fear or safety nets. The title track, Empire of evil, serves as the album’s core a massive, aggressive critique of systems built on greed and control. It unites the album’s fury into a rebellious call to question and resist. Closing with Weakling, Kosmik reveals their most vulnerable side. It explores self-doubt and inner demons without staying defeated, ending the record on a heavy, human note.

The cover art for Empire of Evil, created by Stihell.artwork from Indonesia, visually captures the album’s core themes of corruption, collapse, and inner conflict. At the center is a decaying throne a symbol of crumbling empires built on greed and oppression surrounded by chaos: twisted metal, broken chains, and burning ruins that represent the downfall of corrupted power. A faceless shadow looms in the background, signifying how evil often has no clear identity it exists in systems, habits, and within ourselves. The color palette dark, gritty, and post apocalyptic echoes the band’s raw, aggressive sound, while the jagged, stamp like Kosmik logo reinforces the underground, DIY spirit of hardcore and metal. Distorted, imperfect, and loud, the artwork mirrors the music itself, forming a unified expression of resistance, decay, and emotional survival in a broken world.
While the world has gone completely mad, this SHOULD be the time for aggressive bands to write hard music. Enter long-running Nepali hardcore powerhouse, STRANGLE, to provide you the...
