Yeah, you know as SOON as we saw information about a punk band outta Iran, we were all over it. We have been blessed to have written about several Iranian bands in our 10 plus years that we’ve been doing this website, but very FEW of these bands have come from the world of punk rock or hardcore. So when THE LASHES came across our ‘for you’ feed, we couldn’t get into their DM’s fast enough.
The band were kind enough to send us TONS of information about their band and the context of which they exist in Iran.
Enjoy reading – go support the band!

“Honestly, The Lashes has been like a machine that’s always in motion; different people have gotten on and off, but the path has always stayed the same. Its exact beginning goes back to around 2018–2019, but from day one, our goal was clear: to make music that’s honest, angry, and a reflection of where we stand. Each of us listens to different kinds of music, and that’s why when we get together and create, the result turns out diverse and unique. We draw inspiration from different moods and experiences.”
“This genre in Iran has huge potential — it can attract both metal and rock audiences. Right now, the number of bands in this scene might not even reach the fingers of two hands, but we’re sure that won’t last. New bands and artists will definitely emerge, and if we can be a spark or a bit of motivation for them, that’s enough for us. So far, our focus has been more on performing than releasing music, because the essence of what we do is live energy and performance.”
“But playing live in Iran is a big challenge — it doesn’t fit the official atmosphere. For example, some venues have offered us gigs, but honestly, it doesn’t make sense to us for the audience to sit in chairs and headbang. We don’t sit in chairs — that’s bullshit!
People who’ve seen our shows have had a completely different experience: their first mosh pit, their first crowd-surf, their first time the vocalist screamed right in their faces from the middle of the crowd.
These moments bring a new kind of energy to our audience. We’ve even performed in other cities — at first, people were shocked, but halfway through the show they’d jump into the pit, throwing punches and kicks! We think those places are even more open to
new experiences.
We’ve never limited ourselves. We write and perform in both Persian and English. Our lyrics usually come from our own personal concerns and experiences, often touching on social, cultural, and political themes. For example, we have a track about the broken
education system in Iran, one about the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, and others about mental and teenage crises. We also have a song called “God Save the Ayatollah” that we still don’t quite dare to release. ha ha ha…..”
“Lately, we’ve been drawn to behavioral and psychological themes too — those inner conflicts a person has with themselves, which feel more real than any politics. For us, The Lashes isn’t just a band; it’s a kind of raw, collective energy — a bunch of
people who, with all their differences, come together to scream. We’re not chasing legacy; we’re chasing authenticity. If someone listens to our music and, even for a moment, feels like they’re not alone, then in that moment, The Lashes has achieved its purpose.”
