Emerging from the underground extreme metal scene of Northeast India, VIRODH unleashes their long-awaited debut full-length album, a savage and technically punishing statement that pushes the boundaries of modern death metal.
Formed in 2022 by guitarist Sourav (formerly of Pisakas and Rip-Off), Virodh was conceived as a project dedicated to uncompromising brutality, intricate musicianship, and the chaotic spirit of old-school technical death metal. After years of writing and refining their sound, the band now presents a seven-track album that combines blistering speed, suffocating riffs, and complex rhythmic structures.
The current lineup features some of the most seasoned musicians from the Indian extreme metal underground:
Rudra (ex-Pratikriya) – Vocals
Sourav(ex pisakas/ripoff) – Guitars
Arun Natarajan (Eccentric Pendulum) – Bass
Pranaw (ex-Crematomania, Pratikriya, Pisakas) – Drums
The album is an intense exploration of sonic extremity—built on labyrinthine riffing, punishing blast beats, and guttural vocal devastation. Drawing influence from the classic and modern masters of the genre, Virodh crafts a sound that is both ferocious and highly technical, while maintaining a raw, organic aggression.
The band’s first live appearance took place in Bangalore alongside legendary American death metal act Malevolent Creation, marking their official arrival on the international stage. Since then, Virodh has continued to refine their vision, culminating in this debut release.
With this album, Virodh aims to establish a new benchmark for extreme metal coming out of India’s underground—delivering a record that is as intellectually demanding as it is brutally heavy.
