Singaporean chaotic hardcore/mathcore band GLASSMOUTH is thrilled to announce their second album, titled ‘Flatliner’. Seamlessly blending intense sonic aggression with introspective lyricism, Glassmouth takes listeners on a gripping exploration of existential dread and the relentless pursuit of redemption.
Drawing inspiration from the profound and relatable emotions of dread, failure, and disappointment, Glassmouth’s ‘Flatliner’ delves into the core of the human experience. The band fearlessly confronts these universal feelings, weaving them into an intricate tapestry of sound that resonates with listeners on a deeply personal level.
With ‘Flatliner,’ Glassmouth pushed beyond self-imposed boundaries, venturing into new subgenres and expanding their sonic palette. The band takes pride in their ability to create music that is both experimental and expressive, embracing creative freedom and pushing themselves to new heights. Drawing influences from their favorite bands and subgenres outside of mathcore, such as Envy, The Devil Wears Prada, Alt of the Society, and Sleep Token.
Glassmouth showcases their unique blend of chaotic hardcore and mathcore while breaking the rules of traditional songwriting. The lyrics on ‘Flatliner’ speak to the shared human experience of disappointment, failure, fear, and anger, while also infusing a sense of cheeky fun amidst the chaos of the world. The band invites listeners to interpret the lyrics and vibes through their own lenses, finding personal connections and meaning within the music.
Collaboration has played a significant role in shaping the sonic landscape of ‘Flatliner.’ Sakiyama, known for his work with the Japanese band “Wellness In Mouth of Ditch”, has provided his eccentricity to the track ‘The World Around Me Has Taken A Turn For The Worse’, bringing a touch of the inimitable Mike Patton from “Faith No More”. Respected sound artist Syafiq Halid provides a unique touch on ‘300% Mortality Rate Surgery’, bringing an infusion of unconventional soundscapes that take listeners on an unforgettable sonic journey.
‘Flatliner’ is a collection of ten captivating tracks, each offering its own powerful and distinctive experience. ‘300% Mortality Rate Surgery’ and ‘noziroH tnevE’ captivate with their heavy, emotional atmospheres, while tracks such as ‘The World Around Me Has Taken A Turn For The Worse’ and ‘Wildebeast’ offer a taste of Glassmouth’s penchant for the weird and experimental. The band’s attention to detail and commitment to capturing the raw energy of their live performances shines through in every recording, with moments of precise instrumentation contrasted by layers of controlled chaos, feedback, and noise.
Very cool to see some fellow Asian extreme musicheads who live out here in the west (United Kingdom to be precise) also continuing to actually play music instead of...
