Since being formed as a riot grrrl band back in 2013, Indonesian noise-punk band Bananach exudes a level of maturity in their songwriting that is simply breathtaking. Today the band has weathered lineup changes and the pandemic to unleash a brand new EP entitled ‘Panoptic Litter’ with new members in tow.
“Instead of being restrained and eroded along the murkiness of Covid-19 pandemic, these four members managed to leverage their quarantine period by pouring out all of their concealed anguish deep within their hearts — inevitable anxieties over the shambled world we’re currently living in, heaviness over anvils of problems that weigh down not only them but also their surroundings, and their intricate desire for music that was lodged deep within their heart had eventually intertwined and amplified into a much louder and reverberant rage.
Serving as a testament to the gloom of isolation, both in a physical sense as well as cultural, “Panoptic Litter” is composed of five songs with a duration of sixteen minutes in total. This fuzz-drenched mini album started with the low tempo “Lethal Messy”, which records the hardships of people around the world who take it down to the streets fighting over the mishandling abuse of power, oppression, and status quo. Plastered as the single promo for this album combined with the music video launch from “Sick Mind”, the track bluntly gives a middle finger to individuals or groups who feel like they own some sense of moral superiority and ‘holier than thou’ mentality.”
The timing of the release couldn’t be more perfect as the band is currently on tour in Germany.

This EP is frickin brilliant…it goes above and beyond any expectations we had of the band…
Very cool to see some fellow Asian extreme musicheads who live out here in the west (United Kingdom to be precise) also continuing to actually play music instead of...
