“A plea to a fading country” – Lebanese Shoegaze Band BLISS Release Haunting New Single

Lebanon’s underground music scene has always been a testament to revolution; few bands embody that spirit. In April 2024, BLISS released their debut EP, ”You Should Quit Your Job And Play Outside (With Me)”—a raw, unapologetic collection of 5 songs that reignited the feeling of being a stupid teenager going through a heartbreak. Their sound inspired the new younger generation of Lebanese artists to actually write their own music.

But as their momentum grew, so did the uncertainty. The war hit hard, shaking the foundations of an already struggling country. Like everyone else, Bliss felt the weight of despair. Gigs were canceled, future plans were canceled, and hopes of continuing on with their collective dream faded.

Now, Bliss is back with a new single. This is a track that is drenched in sadness and softness. The single, called “Save Me”, is a plea to a fading country they used to recognize before the destruction, but they refuse to give up on. The song is a cry for Lebanon to lead the way, to be a country they could rely on, to stay strong. The song holds a tight grip on the dream of building a life in Lebanon, desperate to save a country they don’t ever want to leave.

“Either way, I’m falling,” the band acknowledges a painful truth: no matter how much hope remains, corruption continues to drag the country down, unless change is certain to happen.

But this generation of artists won’t take shit from nobody. The underground scene in Beirut isn’t just surviving—it’s thriving. And Bliss is making sure it stays that way.
