Iranian Rap Artist Drops Metal-Influenced Track ‘Unchained Authenticity’ [Iran]

FARDIN, a Kurdish rap artist hailing from Iran, showcases his skills in a metal context with his new single “Unchained Authenticity” featuring Robobun. The song brings the underground scenes of rap and metal together with a seamless blend of Kurdish rapping along with modern metal and electronic music elements.

“Unchained Authenticity” is a very personal track that reaches into the depths of the darkness that underground artists in Iran feel with every step they take to express their art. It’s quite fitting to bring together the scenes of both rap and metal for this song since these two genres share the same underground status and somewhat share the same conditions.

Fardin elaborates:

“Unchained Authenticity is mostly about darkness, the tough realities of making music in Iran, and how much of our lives we’ve dedicated to it. We’ve sacrificed so many things for the sake of music, living in difficult and even degrading conditions. And yet, I’ve managed to hold onto my fighting spirit within music. At its core, though, the song carries hope. Despite these circumstances, we keep creating, it’s a journey toward the light. To reach that light, you have to pass through and accept the darkness, because light has no meaning without darkness. Nothing can truly be understood without its opposite, and even darkness can have its own beauty. In the end, the song says that the pleasures and joys others find meaningful mean nothing to me. Those joys are yours, leave me out of them and one day, you’ll understand what I mean.”

“Unchained Authenticity” carries a unique flow that is unmistakably shaped by Fardin’s intricate use of Kurdish rap, a style that gives the track both cultural weight and rhythmic complexity. His delivery is further elevated through a fusion of hard-hitting electronic elements and heavy guitar riffs, adding an aggressive edge that cuts through the mix. The song’s darker side emerges in the raw, unflinching verses where his rap channels defiance and struggle, painting a vivid picture of resilience in harsh conditions. Yet, when the chorus with Robobun’s clean singing hits, a shift happens, the tension eases, and a flicker of light comes through. It’s a deliberate contrast, echoing Fardin’s own belief that light only holds meaning when darkness exists to frame it, and that every moment of hope shines brighter when it’s born from the shadows. The chorus, while being “light” in contrast to the “dark” verse, carries an aura of sadness and melancholy with it.
