Thai Hardcore Band GRIMTOOTH Give Us a Track By Track Breakdown of Dope New EP

One of the joys of running a website like UNITE ASIA is being able to document bands and communities stretched across this beautiful continent of ours (and then wherever our fellow diaspora reside on Earth). For example, the last time we wrote about phenomenal Thai hardcore punk band GRIMTOOTH was back in 2016 (read it HERE):

And today we get to celebrate the band’s hard as nails new EP entitled ‘The Mentality’. Vocalist, Khing, was kind enough to give us a full breakdown of the tracks on this straight to your face slab of hardcore punk. Thank you Khing!

“Our sound is hardcore punk—raw, aggressive, and gritty. We’re heavily influenced by Boston hardcore bands and those with a similar vibe, such as SS Decontrol, The Rival Mob, The Boston Strangler, Waste Management, Free Spirit, No Tolerance, and Stop and Think.

1. Life Sentence
This track is based on real-life struggles that many people go through—pain, suffering, and emotional confinement. It’s about feeling like you’re trapped in a prison with no way out, a life sentence of despair. The song aims to make listeners reflect on the harsh realities of life.

2. Invisible Hand
This song speaks about hidden forces—an invisible hand that manipulates and controls from behind the scenes. It symbolizes oppression, injustice, and the suppression of freedom. The message is about uniting and rising up to reclaim our rights and liberty.

3. Feel My Rage
This track expresses the rage that builds up inside from years of oppression and pain. It’s like a fire burning within, waiting for the moment to erupt. It’s about the raw, unfiltered power that comes from deeply buried emotion.

4. The Mentality
A song about mental strength—the kind that helps you overcome any obstacle. It’s an anthem of perseverance, encouraging those who are struggling to stand up, fight back, and move toward something better.

5. Total Despair
This one delves into total hopelessness. It reflects the extreme suffering that life can throw at you when problems come crashing in all at once. It’s about being pushed to your breaking point.

6. Eyes of Revenge
A dark, vengeful track about eyes filled with fury, watching and waiting for the right time to strike back. It deals with betrayal and emotional pain, and the patient desire to get even with those who’ve caused harm.

7. Primitive (Boston Strangler cover)
This is our take on “Primitive” by Boston Strangler—a band we all love. We wanted to honor their sound and energy while giving it our own twist.

Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to do this interview—we really appreciate it.”

Now go blast these jams!
