CATS SEASON, the Tehran-born metal force, emerged during a pivotal moment in 2020 when right-wing Islamists broke into their studio, stealing and damaging their equipment and threatening the members. The extreme views on metal music in Iran compelled the members to leave their home country, and they have not been able to return since. These challenges fueled their determination, leading them to Istanbul, Turkey, where the majority of the production for their upcoming EP “Revolution” took place.
Main texture of the music is close to deathcore, like the pioneers of the genre such as Thy Art Is Murder or Fit For An Autopsy, but Cats Season have their own touch with adding nu metal elements such as rhyming and Emmure-like rhythms, borrowing some trap-like 808s and some usage of synth and pads to create their own sonic signature.
Cats Season’s lyrics consistently delve into a profound exploration of dark and intense emotions, often delving into themes of rebellion, internal conflict, societal breakdown, and the consequences of blind obedience. The lyrics convey a sense of disillusionment, despair, and a struggle against oppressive forces or systems. The recurring motifs of personal guilt, self-destructive habits, and a yearning for transformation contribute to a narrative that reflects both individual and collective challenges. Overall, the band crafts a dark and introspective story, emphasizing the harsh realities of life and the destructive impact of oppressive forces.
