Cathartic, emotive, chaotic while fully dedicated to the craft – Mumbai-based PACIFIST are South Asia’s contribution to the rising wave of indie, punk & hardcore globally.
Taking inspiration from over three decades of music in the genre, the quintet mine deeper than mere existential angst & personal truths – with a sincerity that reveals all shades of expression through their meticulously crafted releases.
Evolving from the sound on the ‘Greyscale Dreams’ EP (2019) & the follow-up singles in 2021, Pacifist move forward with their expanding sound. If one were to ask in the genre-fluid world of today what ‘post-hardcore’ means, this would be the best way to put it forth. Songs of angst & impassioned screams find their way to merging with lush, melodic refrains, familiar to the band’s sonic vocabulary.
Pacifist’s progression with the new single evokes references that aren’t lost to fans that enjoy the particular crossover indie, emo & hardcore adjacent music share – and if you hear keenly, you’ll hear the overlap too.
The song presents an age-old tale; matters of the heart when two souls start separating at the seams. Through pen, ink, paint, canvas & parchment, Pacifist dig into a confessional about failure, growth, hard truths & dulling aches that ring true.
Especially for those that know it too well. This is their song.
