A couple of days ago we announced the first issue of a brand new zine out of Taiwan called Motions Lounge spearheaded by Scott, guitarist of Taiwanese hardcore band Deadpan (here), and today we get to help announce issue #4 of long-running Japanese hardcore zine Everlasting.
Everlasting is a zine released by Hiro, guitarist of Loyal to the Grave, owner of Retribution Network and Nerds Record store. He started way back in 1995! He was kind enough to answer a quick few questions about the zine!
“When I was into hardcore, we didn’t have the Internet, so I only had fanzines to show me what hardcore was. There are not many hardcore zines published in Japanese, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to contribute to the hardcore scene in Japan. I wanted to publish something tangible that can be collected like CDs and records. My aim was to showcase new bands and reminisce about the hardcore scene from back in the day.
Hiro also sent out the covers of all the issues he’s released:
Issue #1: 1995
Issue #2: 1996
Issue #3: 1997
Issue #3: 2006
(Yes, there are two “#3’s”. Hiro said “Yeah, I made a mistake when I sent it to publishing!”)
Issue #3.5: 2017
And here we go – the grand return of Everlasting zine with this killer cover for Issue #4 drops this month. If you want to grab a copy (even if it’s in Japanese) you can hit up Retribution Records to grab a copy: https://www.instagram.com/retribution178/
