After a period of silence, Vietnamese black metal band Elcrost are very happy to announce the release of their newest musical collaboration, a split release with Vixenta.
“This is something we have been working on in the dark for the past year with Vixenta, a post-black project from Australia. We’ve gotten to know them through a tape trade call with other foreign bands in 2020. We soon decided to collaborate on a split release together. While the original plan was to have it done by the beginning of this year, multiple delays has pushed this to a September release.”
Vixenta/Elcrost split consists of 4 tracks, with each band contributing 2.
“On the Elcrost side, our sound is a continuation of the signature heavy aggressive riffing while still retaining a rich melodicism. It paints a picture of a macabre dreamy fable world, inspired by gothic, melodic black metal and progressive rock and the imagery coming from illustrator Ivan Bilibin and poet Arthur Rimbaud. On the Vixenta side, they continue to experiment with the combination of black metal, shoegaze and post-rock, immediately where they left off with the newest album Polarity. Meanwhile, Vixenta still retains a harsh, freezing, and desolated feelings in their black metal adventure.”
The release will be out on streaming platforms September 3rd with a physical release on Elcrost’s own label House of Ygra sometime soon.
