Hong Kong metallic hardcore band Dagger posted this last night when the Hong Kong government announced the misinformed and ill-thought out “Anti-Mask” law:
“Dear World,
Our city has fought and struggled now for more than 4 months. We continue to be the David in this battle against a monster Goliath. All we have is our will, our spirit, our determination, and our resolve, that even while our students, children, elderly, members of the press get beaten, stabbed, shot at every day, we will win one day.
That day today seems to have moved even further away with the announcement of an idiotic “anti-mask law” by our inept government. The same government that put on a PR show just last week about wanting to hear the voices of ordinary HK citizens. These same citizens will now be thrown in jail for 1 year and fined up to 25,000HKD if they wear a mask at mass gatherings, assemblies, protests.
This is not helpful.
This will not decrease the anger on the streets.
This will not bring calm to our city.
This will not begin the path to reconciliation.
This will not begin the process of rebuilding.
This is further fuel to an out of control fire that was begun by the government themselves when they tried to enact another stupid law – the extradition law.
Tonight, and as we move forward, please keep us in your hearts, minds and prayers.
Citizens of Hong Kong.
Dagger.”
The band doesn’t hold back either in the comments section:

Lastly, while marching on the streets here in Hong Kong, this was seen on the walls…to those oppressed anywhere in the world, we in Hong Kong stand in solidarity with you.
