Guitarist of Singapore Screamo band Bethari Jailed for 2 Weeks

Screamo band Bethari has issued a statement standing in solidarity with their guitarist who has been thrown in prison for 2 weeks due to an art stunt last year. Read the statement below and the Straits Times article further below.

“Our guitarist Seelan got imprisoned today for his artwork on the 32-year detention without trial of Nobel Peace Prize nominee and political prisoner Dr Chia Thye Poh.

We stand in solidarity with him.

“Can a liberated human mind be constrained by a state-sanctioned space? Can a liberated work of art be contained within a state-sanctioned space?”
