Singapore hardcore band Recover (formed in 1996) have released their two out of print full lengths online.
Vocalist Izar gave us some more information to this decision and some background about the releases:
“The main reason we put them up online is because we realized the CD version of these records are rare and very hard to find. Tons of distros don’t even carry them anymore, and we only have a few left in our own possession as well. Even though last year there was a double cassette released with the great help of Revulsion Records (Malaysia), it was still a limited run https://revulsionrecords.bandcamp.com/
SO we figured releasing it on a “pay what you want” format would be a much better to get these 2 albums back out there, especially for the present generation of hardcore kids. Definitely get it out there before it’s lost all together.
Both albums epitomise all that we believe in, songs whose message still apply to our lives today: the struggle and unity of the scene, respect begetting respect, and issues such as depression, friendship and love. Both records, in my humble opinion, also show the band’s flexibility in trying out new sounds which is especially evident in the second album. At the end of the day, we play what we want and certainly don’t conform to any specific “regulated” hardcore style.
But the best part about getting these out there is to build up anticipation for our upcoming EP. Once again we will continue to further explore the boundaries of hardcore and expression.”
We can’t wait to hear these new tracks! Now go blast this shit and familiarize yourself with the history of Lion City hardcore.
