Punk Bands Otoboke Beaver and Oddly Featured on Adult Swim’s ‘Japan is Loud’ Comp

‘Chu Chu Song’ by Otoboke Beaver was recently featured on Adult Swim’s ‘Japan Is Loud’ compilation curated by Jonny Rej of Toonami, alongside new tracks from other notable acts including Boris, Melt Banana, DMBQ, labelmates ODDLY, and more.

This song is actually the very first Otoboke Beaver wrote some 11 years ago and this recording was done in 2017 at LM Studios in Osaka and only available to fans who supported their SXSW fundraiser, but now it’s time for the world to hear. The song features their trademark guitar shredding and riffs from Yoyoyoshie and some cool gang vocal harmonies and key changes. ‘chu chu’ is the Japanese onomatopoeia for ‘kiss kiss’.

The band are currently selling out shows around Japan and North America following a summer of amazing audiences at Primavera, Roskilde, Pohoda and Fuji Rock Festivals, and the release of their ‘SUPER CHAMPON’ album in May.

‘Alligator’ is a powerful new single from Kyoto’s ODDLY, who flex their guitar shredding skills in a monumental freak out with slightly scary hypnotic lyrics. Originally an exclusive on HBO Max for 2 weeks selected as part of Adult Swim’s ‘Japan Is Loud’ compilation curated by Jonny Rej of Toonami.

This new single follows the band’s ‘Odd Man Out’ EP which emanated 90’s slacker indie-rock charm, and is a preview of their forthcoming debut album. An indie rock/odd rock trio from Kyoto, Japan. They have been influenced by several genres of modern rock and like to jumble them up. After releasing a debut single “Loaded” in November 2019, ODDLY has gigged around locally with Japanese and International bands. They signed to Damnably and released their first vinyl ep “ODD MAN OUT” and are preparing for the release of their debut album.
