Metalcore Act abstracts Release Single Feat. A Scent Like Wolves [Japan]

Tokyo-based progressive metalcore outfit abstracts have teamed with Al Boltz, vocalist of A Scent Like Wolves, on new single “Siena”.

“Siena” delivers a potent blend of emo and progressive metalcore, with Boltz’ captivating vocal interplaying at ease with abstracts’ scintillating and intricate riffs.

Combining complex rhythms and the emotional and catchy melodies, Japanese progressive metalcore outfit abstracts have been pushing the bounds of the genre since the release of their debut, self-titled album in 2014.

Nodding to the likes of Crystal Lake and A Skylit Drive, abstracts’ ambitious instrumentation and emotive, cascading delivery brings together the best of metalcore, as the Tokyo outfit continues to evolve their sound and break down sonic boundaries in the process.

After an A Scent Like Wolves/abstracts tour of Japan in 2018, the relationship between Lin Ikeda, guitar player of abstracts, and ASLW frontman Al Boltz blossomed, with the union finally cementing itself as a new single, the once instrumental track “Siena”.

“I was listening to their instrumental song “Siena” in my car on my way to work and came up with a catchy melody almost instantly” recalled Boltz. “I decided to make a vocal remix with producer Grant McFarland (Erra, August Burns Red, Like Moths To Flames) so we could celebrate the 5th anniversary of abstracts’ debut album.”
