Introducing Philippines Hardcore Fest – The First Ever Visayas Hardcore Fest

The following article was contributed to UniteAsia.org by the wonderful hardcore family of BCHC in the Philippines regarding their first ever hardcore fest: Visayas Hardcore Fest.

‘The Philippines is an archipelago that comprises over 7,000 Islands. The archipelago is divided into three island groups: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The Luzon islands include Luzon itself where Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon.

The Visayas is the group of islands in the central Philippines, the largest of which are: Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Samar, Siquijor, Biliran and Guimaras.

The Mindanao islands include Mindanao itself, Davao, Cagayan, Gen.Santos Dinagat, Siargao, Camiguin, Samal, plus the Sulu Archipelago. In Mindanao, they have an annual hardcore punk fest called Mindanao Hardcore Fest and just last May – Batangas’s Hardcore Hope headed by Gab Tojino made their own called Luzon Hardcore Fest. While I was on tour with Not4Sale in Visayas and Mindanao last May for almost 3 weeks witnessing the massive fun being had at Mindanao Hardcore Fest in Tagum, my crew BCHC thought it was maybe time to set up our own festival. So here we are, announcing our first ever Visayas Hardcore Fest to take place this October 18th in Bacolod City. The date holds special significance to us because on this date the city will already be celebrating the annual Masskara Festival – a month long cultural celebration. The line up will be more or less 30 bands from Visayas Islands – Cebu, Negros , Leyte, Dumaguete, Iloilo & Panay, but will certainly not be exclusive to Visayan bands. We have already approached invited bands from Luzon and Mindanao to join the HAVOC, as well as some some international bands who got in touch to be part of it.

FULL LINE UP WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON! For updates – just stay in touch through the BCHC page found below.

Lastly, we offer and dedicate this celebration to all our friends and loved ones who we’ve lost, the ones who helped & believed in us since we started BCHC. This event will be a celebration of life and camaraderie – all of this is a collective effort since day one.

BIG UP to our BCHC brothers and SISTERS and to all our friends & Venues who tirelessly organized, funded, fed the bands & supported the shows since day one.
