Indonesian female-fronted hardcore punk band Clownfish release new track (RULES!)

clownfish

Clownfish is an Indonesian hardcore-punk band fronted by Aullina Luizzahro – who rocks the stage hard wearing her religious pride proudly! So rad to see how we out here in Asia aren’t just blindly following the Western version of the genre that we all love – for hardcore/punk there is a strong anti-religious stance to the culture but here in Asia we are able to find a great balance between respecting our cultures/traditions and yes, religion with the music/culture of hardcore punk rock. Might not make sense to most people out in the West that we can get on stage and say “assalam wa lai kum” or wear our hijabs proudly and go into a song against the establishment, but it makes sense to us.

Anyway…this song by Clownfish is a great track for fans of Kids On the Move, Second Combat, Comeback Kid…but Aullina has some strong pipes and so besides screaming passionately, she can also bust out with some beautiful melodies. The band is also not afraid to try some different things on there – near the end of the song they have some keyboard/strings action!

Really STOKED on this track…can’t wait to hear more!
