We Are Imaginary are capping off 2018 with the release of “DO YOU MIND?”. This time, the band dialed down their signature fuzz riffs and experimented with a more ambient production and mix. The minimal approach serves as a contrast to the weight of vocalist Ahmad Tanji’s lyrics as he narrates a (subtle) sarcastic plea for sensitivity. The song trudges on like a confession from two damaged characters trying to make sense of each other, and failing.
The music video, directed by Kel Fausto, is also in contrast to the linear narrative of previous We Are Imaginary videos. Instead, she presented a collage of quick-shifting visuals and jarring hues to depict one’s appeal for escape.
