Hong Kong Band Qi Release Debut Album

Hong Kong-based label Vintage Vinyl HK has put up pre-orders for the vinyl release of Hong Kong rock act Qi‘s debut album Solstice. The quintet takes their cues from Mercury, Bowie, Coverdale, Jagger, Richards, Page, Baker, and honed all that in at Sunset Studio here in Hong Kong to record the 9 tracks that make up the release.

Vintage Vinyl HK is at the epicenter of Hong Kong’s record-collecting community. Nick hosts record fairs, guest-DJs on radio & at bars, & releases & promotes high-quality music. Previous releases include genius-jazz-improvisers Mothra’s debut album & HK-punks Bastardon’s split 7”.

Says Nick, “There’s always been a rich, deep vein of home-grown music here & it is important to actively preserve this tradition & support local bands & venues. Making a record is a dream come true for me, & is a wonderful medium to celebrate just a fraction of the diversity of the music currently being made in HK.”
