Folk Metal Band Dream Spirit Make Breath-Taking Album Available on Streaming [China]

That’s two records in a row on our website that we can finally help launch into the world because yet another band has finally made their full length available on streaming platforms. Check out Chinese folk metal band Dream Spirit on their third and even more epic sounding full-length ‘1279 A.D.’. Seriously…”epic” doesn’t even capture how gloriously this band can blend Chinese folk instruments, chords, and scales into their melodic metal sound. It’s crazy…

The band explains the context of the theme for this record in the following history lesson, “The year 1279 A.D., the war between the Song Dynasty and the Mongol Empire has reached the last chapter. Wedging for over forty years, this war has stained every inch of Song’s soil in blood red. Retreated to the last southern stronghold, the remaining army Song’s defense force has been totally annihilated at the sea battle of Yanshan. Prime Minister Wen Tianxiang has been taken captive, with the young Emperor on his back Vice Minister Lu Xiufu threw himself into the sea to avoid the humiliation of capitulation. Unwilling to give in, some tens of thousands of Song soldiers and subjects took their own lives. That was the end of the once-mighty Song. The essence of high civilization of China that endured for millennia now faced its final breakdown.”
