SUMMARY:Heavy Unplugged
DESCRIPTION:In a fresh twist on Hong Kong’s favourite Heavy nights\, The Underground presents Heavy Unplugged. Three hard rock and metal bands will be swapping electric guitars for acoustic and stepping out of their comfort zones for a night of stripped-back sounds – with all of the same attitude. \nFirst up is Wan Chai Warriors\, a charismatic quartet known for their fun-filled shows\, stories of bench-based mishaps\, and an energetic frontman. It’s not easy to imagine the band without their signature screeching shreds and riffs\, but they’re looking forward to the challenge of Heavy Unplugged. \nNext up is Mockingbird\, who competed in the Volkswagen x Underground’s Battle of the Bands earlier this year\, and whose big-voiced singer has been likened to Paramore’s Hayley Williams. For one night\, they’ll bring their intensity down a notch without sacrificing any of their catchy melodies. \nFinally\, there’s Bamboo Star\, hair metal party-starters known to the world after their Planetrox win. “Stripping back will really force us to evaluate the essence of our music\,” they said. Fans of the Bamboo rockers won’t want to miss an opportunity to hear the gang present a unique take on their usual amp-tastic sound. \nCome see these renowned performers go acoustic on Saturday 2nd September at Morrison Café and Bar and get ready for something a little different from The Underground. \nHeavy Unplugged\nSaturday 2nd September 2017\n8:00pm – 11:30pm\nMorrison Cafe & Bar\, 284 Queens Road Central\, Sheung Wan\, Hong Kong (Sheung Wan MTR station exit A2)\nAdvance tickets: HK$120\navailable at Morrison or http://undergroundhk.com\nDoor tickets: HK$160\nTickets include one drink\nHotline: (852) 9486 4648\nhttp://undergroundhk.com/2017/09/02/heavy-unplugged-1/ \nShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)

SUMMARY:Gerhana Skacinta Live at Esplanade Annexe Studio Singapore
DESCRIPTION:Event Programme Synopsis for Gerhana Skacinta\nLive at Esplanade Annexe Studio\, Singapore \nGlobal Entertainment Production is proud to present Gerhana Skacinta live at the Esplanade Annexe Studio in Singapore on 8 Sep 2017\, Fri\, 7pm. The ska band from Malaysia is skanking its way here for a long-awaited performance\, to celebrate its 18th anniversary. \nGerhana Skacinta has a unique and remarkable aptitude for the musical styles of ska\, rocksteady\, reggae and dub. The words “gerhana” (which means “eclipse”)\, “ska” and “cinta” (which means “love”) were put together to form the band’s name. Although based in a country far from the more famous centres of ska culture\, the band’s music is not a fusion of the Caribbean\, Southeast Asian or West Indie genres. Instead\, Gerhana Skacinta is loved for its very own pure and traditional take on ska music. \nThe band has built a fanbase over time\, through live performances and sales of its recorded materials. It released four full-length albums between 2002 and 2008\, with over 20\,000 copies of its second album sold in 2004. To date\, Gerhana Skacinta has performed in several festivals and gigs around Malaysia\, Indonesia and Singapore\, winning over massive crowds\, all dancing to its music. \nThe opening act for this performance is Singapore’s THE MANIACS\, a well-recognised and self-sustaining Skin Head band from the Lion City’s underground scene\, which has been around since 1994. \nThis showcase gives a wider audience and the general public an opportunity to better understand and appreciate the skinhead and the punk subculture. \nSpecial note:\nPlease put on your dancing shoes as you will be skanking the whole night through! \nShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)
