Japanese/Canadian dance-punk duo Gaijin Smash has released the remotely directed music video for their debut single “Creeper”. After returning from their Japan/Canada tour, Gaijin Smash filmed the quarantined music video for “Creeper” in their living room while directed by an entirely remote crew over a day-long video conference call in early 2020.
The video for “Creeper” provides an explanation of the band’s hypnotic relationship with their poltergeist drummer (who they appear to be commanded by) and serves as a subtle commentary on the grip that technology can have on society.
To celebrate the release of their remotely-directed music video for “Creeper”, Gaijin Smash threw a spontaneous Halloween showcase from the top floor windows of an industrial low-rise in downtown Toronto’s ‘Little Tokyo’ district. The band will release their self-titled EP on Friday the 13th of November.
