When the Chemistry is Right – Why Wait? Singapore Hardcore Band Bind Release Debut EP

Singapore hardcore band BIND have released their debut EP in glorious style today. The EP is entitled ‘State of Mind’ and is out on vinyl courtesy of Singapore label Dangerous Goods.

We spoke to bassist Syed who was kind enough to send in the following:

“We got together just to jam on some tracks and after our 6th practice, we realized we had enough material already to record an EP. So we hit the studio right away! The chemistry was right, everyone was into it and focused.

When you listen to the EP now it’s exactly what it was intended to be from the getgo, straight up old school hardcore. Nothing fancy just in your face and BAM!”

Vocalist Rag concurs, “We formed the band last July and we wasted no time writing our songs for our debut EP…We had all the experience, Syed was in legendary Singapore hardcore band Stompin’ Ground, the guitarist is from Overthrown, the drummer from UKHC band War Charge and I’ve done stints in Retribution/Shortfuse. We took all our expertise and put it into writing our debut and completed all the recording and mixing back in December 2019.”

Paulo of Dangerous Goods took immediate interest and with a band made up of this pedigree, it’s not hard to see why any label that knows what’s up wasn’t going to be all over the release. “The whole time Paulo from Dangerous Goods expressed interest in our band and naturally we just went along with his label, given his repertoire. But just as we were prepping for the EP launch in March, the pandemic hit and that pushed everything back a couple of months. It was really infuriating to wait this long but alas we finally have the goods to deliver to the people who’ve supported us. I guess we can close this dreadful year with something that we’re really proud of.”
