Alt-Psych band Deadheir Release Second Single ‘Feel the Rain’ [Hong Kong]

Homegrown Hong Kong alternative rock outfit Deadheir have released their second single ‘Feel the Rain’. Mixing 60’s era psychedelia and 90’s alt-rock they provide a surprisingly uptempo soundtrack to the apocalypse. With a knowing use of pastiche and a focus on harmony, their music questions the importance of escapism in a world with no exit sign.

Commenting on their latest single, Adrian, the band’s guitarist said that the song was written at what felt like ‘a cultural nadir’ in their hometown. “Street music and busking had long been shut down, businesses were filing for bankruptcy and new laws were curtailing political and social freedoms. After protests and pandemics came policies that seemed to weigh heavy on society. When the next typhoon came along and cracked open the sky, it felt like an awakening. Life is a process and good things are around the corner. It was a sign that we needed to embrace the storm.”

The band’s full-length LP ’10th Floor’ will be released digitally later this year and will be available on double-disc vinyl in 2023 through Hong Kong nano-label Sampan Records.
