Rekah – Indonesian post-hardcore release new single (really good!)

rekah

When bands say they’re “post-hardcore” these days and then rip into clearly down-tuned metal riffs, mosh heavy breakdowns galore, guttural vocals that then go into auto-tuned melody above thumping double-bass drum precision beats…I always kinda sit there scratching my head.

Today this Indonesian band Rekah came across my social media and they also had the words “post-hardcore” used to describe them. As soon as I pressed play I thought to myself “now THIS is what I would classify as “post-hardcore”. Screamy-throat shattering yet vulnerable as hell vocals? Yup. Music that goes in and out of post-rock, punk rock, emo, even blast beats? Yup. Guitar tone that is more in line with post rock then metal? Yup. Spoken word moments? Yup. Song arrangement that is devoid of any traditional song structure? Yup.

So yes, Rekah is a post hardcore band and a GREAT band at that…so happy to have come across them today accidentally. This is their latest single and I can’t WAIT to hear a full length soon…
